Watch: W. Ellington Felton, “Walked Away”

WesFelton"Walked Away," much like the other songs on W. Ellington Felton's recent LP Imagine the Future, is very personal. The local music vet—who's collaborated with Raheem DeVaughn and turned in dope performances at the last two DC Loves Dilla shows—co-wrote the song with his lady, and she directed the video, Felton tells Arts Desk.

In the clip, Felton patrols an abandoned house, which he says is "a metaphor for shit hitting the fan and there's nothing left." The song itself discusses lovelorn regret. "After all the excuses, you're left with yourself," Felton says. "You don't really know what you have until you've seen it walk away."

Nice video. Why has it taken the city paper so long to write on this artist? A local artist that has a great album and loves his lady? More please. Kudos to the woman who is holding her man Down and kudos for creating together.
