Listen: Oddisee, “Own Appeal”

OwnAppeal03Another week, another new Oddisee track. This time, the Largo native forgoes the instrumental work of his forthcoming album, The Beauty in All, for the self-assessing rhymes of "Own Appeal," the first single from Oddisee's Tangible Dream mixtape being released Oct. 1—the same day as Beauty.

A cloudy guitar riff and 1980s rap fodder set the scene for Odd to ponder his life on the road. He shrugs at the materialism that consumes the world, and opts for a back-to-basics route. "The age where we market ourselves, I'm still about the music, I don't monitor plays/I don't monitor hits and I don't monitor clicks/I monitor the snare drum and the bottom of kicks."
