Just like he said he would, Mayor Vince Gray has asked the D.C. Council to name a park in the District after Chuck Brown, who died May 16. The Chuck Brown Park Designation Act of 2012 would name the western portion of Langdon Park—-between 18th and 20th Streets NE—-after the Godfather of Go-Go. “It’ll be a place just like Chuck,” Gray said at Brown’s memorial last month. “A place where there’s action, a place where there’s people, a place where there’s traffic…a place where Joe can run.”

Of course, that isn’t the only tribute to Brown politicians promised at the memorial service—-although Kwame Brown may have trouble delivering a Go-Go Hall of Fame now that he’s resigned his Council chairmanship. (There are also Washington City Paper‘s suggestions, none of which has been realized yet.) My humble suggestion for the park, should the Council rename it after Brown: Install some go-go swings.
