If one thing’s for certain, Tabi Bonney likes warm sounds. His music—-which frequently revels in an upbeat blend of pop and Caribbean rhythms—-always sets the mood for sweltering D.C. summers.

Judging by his new single, it seems Tabi is at it once again. Released today, “Chop Chop” finds the MC trading bars with Brooklyn’s Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def). Here, the two styles mesh well atop a persistent bass line and pulsating steel drums. Bey’s distinctive New York vernacular meets Bonney’s D.C. twang, and it’s a good look.

Bonney’s new mixtape, The Endless Summer, drops this Thursday. This song will do for now. Listen below.
