In January, Prince George’s County MC Sean Born dropped one of the best albums I’ve heard this year, Behind the Scale, which combined Born’s gritty tales of struggle with dusty, ’90s-style boom bap, courtesy of producers Kev Brown, Dunc, and Oddisee.

Released today, Born’s “12/12” is a lively posse cut featuring Low Budget crew member Kaimbr and Mello Music Group label mates Toine and Hassaan Mackey. Over a rousing medley of chopped vocal samples and volcanic drum fills, Born stays true to form: “Can’t do what I do, cause I did what I did/And I say what I say, and go over ya head.”

Born should drop his first video from Behind The Scale soon. Until then, you can download “12/12” for free. Listen below.
