The Make-Up, the D.C. post-punk/”gospel yeh-yeh” outfit led by Ian Svenonius, is reuniting this spring for I’ll Be Your Mirror, a three-day event put on by the All Tomorrows Parties festival series. The shows, guest-curated by Mogwai, run May 25-27 at the Alexandra Palace in London, U.K., and also feature Codeine, Melvins, Dirty Three, and at least a few other bands I’ve slobbered over since high school. (Plus some contemporary ones!) Here’s the full lineup.

The Make-Up, though! The reunion comes out of nowhere, but it’s also very, very welcome. Three years after their group Nation of Ulysses disbanded, Svenonius, James Canty, and Steve Gamboa formed The Make-Up, along with bassist Michelle Mae. (Guitarist Alex Minoff joined later.) The group continued until 2000, peddling its marriage of ’60s garage and French pop, gospel fervor, vaguely Marxist liberation theology, and revolutionary cool. The Make-Up released four studio albums and two live LPs.

Also, this is probably completely unrelated, but Svenonius and Mae are both DJing a yoga-themed dance night at Comet Ping Pong on March 10.
