Comet Ping Pong Hosts a Benefit for DJ Jonathan Toubin

As reported by The Huffington Post and other outlets last week, DJ Jonathan Toubin—the New York-based, soul-centric DJ whom City Paper readers will remember from his appearance on the Bruise Cruise (not to mention a recent performance at Comet Ping Pong)—was severely injured in a bizarre accident last Thursday. Apparently, a taxi cab crashed through The Jupiter Hotel in Portland, Ore., driving directly into the room where the popular dance-party DJ was sleeping. Police found Toubin "literally stuck under the front of the car," HuffPo wrote. Toubin was hospitalized, and last week he was still in critical condition.

Benefits for Toubin's medical expenses have already gone down in New York and Austin. Today, local booker Sasha Lord announced on Facebook that Comet Ping Pong will be hosting a benefit for Toubin in late January. In the meantime, Toubin's family are accepting Paypal donations via, according to Toubin's New York Night Train Facebook page.

Thank you so much for getting the word out.
Sasha Lord Presents will be hosting two benefits staggered in the next year.
The first benefit will be hosted by U Street Music Hall and the second benefit will be hosted by Comet Ping Pong.
Also, the Huffington Post article isn't up to date and Jonathan is in very serious condition.
Thank you to all the bands and people who have come forward wanting to help! Keep it coming if you have an interest.
