I do not believe that government should favor any single business, and I actually called in my piece for more funding for the DCCAH, not an earmark for the Lincoln. The Lincoln is a really important cultural venue, but so are lots of places, and with the economy the way it is and the DC budget the way it is I think its not right to bail out one business (over another.)

I hate to say it, but I almost agree with commenter Monkeyrotica on this one. (I hate to say it cause who wants to agree with a commenter named Monkeyrotica.) I don't think the board needs to be fired -- I think it needs to be expanded. They need to grow, and refresh, and hopefully that's what this crisis is forcing em to do. Many boards float by until a crisis hits. Hopefully this will get em working, and sounds like that's what's happening.

I saw Sigur Ros there a few years ago and it was really. They could be more like 6th and I, with concerts and other events. But as the article mentions it all comes down to marketing. Dark half the year is absurd, any for-profit theatre would be bankrupt from that.

Any discussion of saving the Lincoln Theater needs to begin with firing the Board of Directors for gross negligence. Having a publically funded theater open directly across the street from a Metro station be dark nine months out of the year is ridiculous.
