Just Announced: WWJF Bonus Show at Red Door
Tonight was supposed to be the online Wednesday in March with nothing on the official schedule for the Washington Women in Jazz Festival—Twins Jazz was already booked.
But no! Festival organizer Amy K. Bormet conspired with Giovanni Russonello and Luke Stewart, the jazz advocates behind CapitalBop, to pencil in a special bonus session at their preferred performance space, the Red Door loft, tonight. Unlike the Twins performances, it's a one-acter—think of it as the WWJF all-stars. Bormet herself will be behind the piano and microphone, joined by fellow singer Integriti Reeves, no-longer-pneumonic bassist Karine Chapdelaine, drummer Andrew Hare, and, for an unusual bit of flavor, tap dancer Melissa Frakman. They work from 8 to 10 p.m., at which time—in the CapitalBop way—an open jam session takes control.
The Red Door is at 443 I St. NW. A $10 donation is suggested, and the show is BYOB. Musicians, bring your horns!
