Photos: Red Molly @ Jammin’ Java

Folk/Americana band Red Molly played to a full house at Jammin' Java last night, singing songs that, in the words of one fan, fall into one of three categories: "lost love, lost life, and get lost." Three-part harmonies and sensitive string arrangements were the name of the game as the trio played tracks from its just-released fourth record, James. The band is offering the album to all show attendees as part of a "pay what you want" deal that applies to all Red Molly merch. For the music biz geeks out there, it'll be interesting to hear about the results of experiments like this.

Dear Mollys - I don't know if you received my e-mail after the Emelin shoe. We loved it. I never saw Willa (my wife) so enthused about a show. Thank you all for signing our CDs. I also e-mailed WFUV. We can't wait to see you when you come around here again. Have you ever been on Mountain Stage in West Virginia? I know you'd be a big hit there and reach a big radio audience.

    Hey there!

Bob and I are bringing (abput 10) friends to see you in Morristown tonight. Only one other couple (Jen & Rick - who introduced us to you) know your music. I've been promoting your web site to the others. Wish you had some sound bytes on it to go along with the great pics! But they'll see - Bob and I don't promote junk. They're gonna love you - aw we do! See you later.
