This Weekend @ Bohemian: Ron Fucking Carter

It's damn hard to find a hyperbolic statement about Ron Carter. He's the prime jazz bassist of the past 50 years. He's the most recorded bass player in jazz history, appearing on over 2,500 recordings. He was the anchor of Miles Davis' celebrated '60s quintet, a sideman on Wynton Marsalis' first album, and the distinctive bass sound heard on A Tribe Called Quest's hip-hop masterpiece The Low End Theory.

And this weekend, he's the headline act at Bohemian Caverns.

He'll be there Thursday thru Sunday, doing sets at 8pm and 10pm. Admission is $40 — a high price for the U Street venue, but worth every penny for the artist. And if you're not sure about that, I'll check it out myself and report back right here on Black Plastic Bag.
