This always amazes me. You go to a show and Ken Vandermark is up on stage. And you decide….to talk. I wonder why people talk during shows. It’s one thing to tap your friend on the shoulder and yell into his ear: “this is awesome” or “this sucks, I’m going to the red room.” But to talk through entire sets, ugh.

I was standing next to one of those loud talkers. Incredibly annoying. I resisted the urge to ask him to shut up. But yes, if people want to talk, why can’t they go to the back of the room?

more specifically, vandermark played with john herndon and jeff parker of tortoise. and it fucking ruled. and i couldn’t believe the dipshits right in front of the center of the stage who were talking LOUDLY and playing on their iphones for at least 10 minutes until i asked them to show a little respect. god, why do people insist on acting like this at shows?

Good question. Vandermark played with two others (members of Tortoise). A drummer and guitarist. Vandermark announced at the beginning of his set that his set would be a tribute to Sun Ra.
