Cassettes @ Orpheus Records Saturday Night

As part of the continuing $1 sale/going-out-of-business festivities local steampunk/choose-your-own-adventure rockers The Cassettes will be playing a free-show Saturday night at Orpheus Records. It’s worth stopping by to see the show, but also to pick up The Cassettes new record, which they’ve chosen to release in fun-pack form–which includes a toy horse, a cassette tape, and a miniature Lamborghini Countach.

Record shopping-wise, Orpheus has become a bone-yard full of relics from the record stores of yore, with some leftovers hanging around from Now Music & Fashion and a few other long-deceased stores still kicking around. So, there’s still plenty of interesting records, you know, if you’re into Janis Ian, Shoes, bedwetter pop 7″s…er..I’m pretty sure there was a Cold Cold Hearts single in there somewhere, and at least one record by a certain CP staffer.

The Cassettes are pretty damn fun! How did they get all those Lamborghinis for the packaging?

    It’s a secret.

And it might be a good time to start needling Rick about staying open and just moving to a new location already. He actually seems a tiny, tiny bit receptive to the idea and not dead set on just closing down for good. Hm.

yeah. I don’t know why he doesn’t just open up somewhere else. It’s obvious he’s got a loyal customer base…Maybe they’re loyal because of the constant going out of business sales.

So when do we get added to the ‘Music Sites We Like’ column over there on the right?!

    Done!
