Drone Thugs N’ Harmony

Baltimore may have the market for free-form weirdness and art-school high jinks cornered right now, but D.C. is not without a freak scene of its own. So what if Baltimore has/had MICA, Tarantula Hill, Red Room, and Wham City? DC still has–well, DC still has the Velvet Lounge, and Scott Verrastro's living room. We also have Sonic Circuits.

D.C.'s annual out-music festival has announced this year's line-up, which includes–among many other local and international luminaries–minimalist composer and drone legend Tony Conrad.

Here's a link to the full schedule.

Hey! We also have the Black Cat Backstage, the Electric Possible, and promising indications of the re-opening of the Warehouse Next Door. Don't sell DC short!

And, may I add, seven years - and still going strong - of QUEERING SOUND audio-video fest, first at DCAC then the Warehouse each June before GLBT pride fest.

Plus don't forget whole lotta art-noise at many an Artomatic!
