ToDo ToDay: Sublime with Rome, Charanjit Singh, and Tiny Ruins
Wait, isn’t Sublime broken up? Well, yes—the band fell apart after the death of lead singer Bradley Nowell in 1996. But this isn’t Sublime, it’s Sublime with Rome—a name change dictated by a particularly contentious lawsuit between the executors of Nowell’s estate and Sublime’s remaining members—and it’s more or less a really authentic tribute band filled in with the band’s original bassist, Eric Wilson. Could this performance usher in the return of mainstream ska rock? Probably not (let’s hope not, at least). But for one night only, you don’t have to hide the fact that you still know how to skank. Peruvian restaurant Ocopa opened on H Street NE this week. Chef Carlos Delago, a Peruvian native, is serving a number of ceviches, Peruvian-style maki sushi, causa (a mashed yellow potato dish with layers of meats, seafoods, and vegetables), grilled meat skewers, and more. The restaurant gets its name from a sauce made with a type of black mint called huacatay that will accompany rotisserie chickens that will soon be available for lunch. Read more on Young & Hungry.
