10376156_10152242969088005_8273999574563482167_nPersonality is essential to a lyricist’s success. That ability to connect with an audience—that earnest charm—endeared listeners to Maryland rapper Phil Adé when his debut, Starting on JV, was released five years ago. His likability and effortless flair for flipping syllables had him pegged as the next local artist on the brink of stardom after releasing four projects in 2011, and that same charisma made his triumphant 2013 return from a year-long hiatus seamless. Tonight, Adé and D.C. rapper Lightshow will perform at the A3C Festival Circuit show at U Street Music Hall, a small extension of the annual hip-hop gathering that takes place in Atlanta each fall.
