ToDo ToDay: Eagulls, Freud’s Last Session, and a New Whiskey Bar

eagullsYou know summer is almost here when a massively hyped guitar band from England makes its way to a slew of gigs on the East Coast. This year’s band is Eagulls, a post-punk quintet from Leeds. Their songs are propulsive and instantly familiar: Anyone with a passing appreciation of Ian Curtis or Gang of Four will find their hooks welcoming. But it’s the vocals of George Mitchell, whose anguished lyrics land somewhere between defiance and despair, that make the band worth seeing.
