ToDo ToDay: Good Game, Animal Years, and Biscuits
Competitive video gaming is officially a sport. In Good Game, filmmakers follow the top-tier American squad Evil Geniuses as they battle teams from across the world in their competitive Starcraft 2 league. Kind of like Hoop Dreams but with zerg rushes, the film illustrates just how hard life can be for these pro gamers as they hone their skills and perfect their craft. And it’s not just mental preparation they worry about; players must train their bodies to weather the, uh, “physical requirements” of marathon gaming sessions that can last up to 10 hours. Art and Soul hosts a biscuit competition from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight. Five local chefs—Jason Gehring of Menu MBK, Hamilton Johnson of Vidalia, Dylan Fultineer of Rappahannock River Oysters, Brian McPherson of Jackson 20, and Susan Wallace of BlackSalt—will face off to raise money for Hospitality High, a local school for students interested in the industry. Students will help the chefs with their biscuit creations, and industry insiders will serve up cocktails, lamb, and oysters. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased here.
