ToDo ToDay: Philip Roth Birthday Celebration, Dead Professional, and Arborea

rothPhilip Roth may be our most celebrated literary kvetcher. Even among a long line of iconic Jewish-American authors like Bernard Malamud and Saul Bellow, Roth’s authorial voice was always the loudest and the wryest. Authors Sam Lipsyte and Howard Norman discuss this legacy and Roth’s impact on their own work at the Library of Congress this afternoon in celebration of the author’s 81st birthday. For March Madness fanatics and craft beer fans alike, City Tap House is hosting a bracket party tonight. The newly opened spot will feature two casks of Sly Fox Brewing Company’s Odyssey Imperial IPA and Route 113 IPA. The beers ring in at $6 to $7 for 10-ounce pours. Bracketologists are eligible to win prizes, as are the individuals who kick each keg.
