ToDo ToDay: Flamenco, Short Films, and GEMS
Foot-stomping is rarely an acceptable form of communication. But what about during GALA Hispanic Theatre’s ninth iteration of Fuego Flamenco? This month, the theater will again play host to Spanish dancers with castanets and elaborate traditional costumes, and this time, it’s all about new interpretations of the centuries-old traditions. Beginning tonight, the sensuality cranks up when Madrid-based duo José Jurado and Isabel Rodríguez present the U.S. premiere of “Templanza,” a “slow-burning fire” driven by the creative impulses that inspire musicians and performers. Bluejacket is now open for weekday lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The menu includes soup, salads, sandwiches, and burgers from $11 to $16. Among the items unique to the lunch menu: a porchetta sandwich with broccoli rabe, aged provolone, and pepper relish; an eggplant parmesan panino; and curried chicken soup.
