Post-punk wouldn’t be post-punk without a certain level of resentment between murky waves of synth-heavy swells.  Philadelphia’s Cold Cave recently released a 7-inch titled “Black Boots,” but tonight, expect to hear older favorites and earworm throttlers from its last studio effort from 2011, Cherish the Light Years. Twinkling synth lines and drum machines punctuate the band’s throbbing dance numbers, made all the more emotive by vocalist Wes Eisold. EAT THIS

Washington City Paper‘s annual Food Issue is here at last! This year, we’ve rounded up the 50 dishes you have to try in the D.C. area—from lambs and clams at Rappahannock Oyster Bar to bottarga pizza at Pizzeria Paradiso to the banh mi burger at BarminiTake a look for yourself. (Jessica Sidman)

OH AND ALSO

Documentary film festival AFI Docs is officially underway. No idea what movies to see? Skim our guide to the fest, which takes place in both Silver Spring and D.C. this year.

It’s a nice day to start again: Indie-rock dream girl Cat Power takes the stage at Wolf Trap with ’80s bad boy Billy Idol. 8 p.m. at the Filene Center, 1645 Trap Road, Vienna. $48.

At a time when summer music festivals have fallen into the grip of corporate entities like Virgin, Vans, and Perry Farrell (who is basically just shilling for tequila and C3 at this point), it’s easy to forget that people in the DIY set also love daylong throwdowns—sans the ad blitz and keg-stand atmosphere. Good thing there’s Fest Too, an all-ages, three-day bash that aims to unite the punk and indie-rock scenes of D.C., Baltimore, and Richmond. Read more in our Summer Entertainment GuideFest Too runs from June 20 to June 22 at various venues in Maryland and Virginia. Admission prices vary. festtoo.tumblr.com. (Leor Galil)

The Source Festival continues tonight with A Frontier, As Told by the Frontier, a play about abandoned children retelling creation stories. 8 p.m. at Source Theater, 1835 14th St. NW. $20.
