ToDo ToDay: European Photos! Another Taqueria! Escondido!

If Shakespeare had a camera, what would he have captured? The Shakespeare Theatre Company explores that conceit with its exhibition of 24 photos of European locales by Nina Dunn.  Her finest works are understated: an aerial image of a surprisingly regular matrix of trees in Bordeaux, accentuated by a Barnett Newman-style zip of a road, and a nearly monochromatic view of Rome’s largely empty Spanish Steps, echoing Frederick H. Evans’ famous photograph of a flight of weathered steps in England’s Wells Cathedral. Read more >>> The exhibit is on view daily noon to 6 p.m. to June 2 at Sidney Harman Hall, 610 F St. NW. Free. Fun fact: more than half of the food trucks to open up brick-and-mortar restaurants in the D.C. area sell tacos. The latest is Chupacabra, which has just opened a "Latin kitchen" and taqueria on H Street NE. The fast casual eatery serves arepas and seven varieties of tacos, including panko-crusted tilapia, shredded beef braised in Argentine Malbec, and squash and eggplant with chipotle black beans. (You can turn any of the tacos into a salad or a bowl.) Also look out for chef's specials like a Cuban sandwich and a beef soup with rice and veggies, garnished with lime and mint. Many of the items are gluten-free and vegan. No liquor license yet, but stay tuned. Chupcacabra, 822 H St. NE. (202) 505-4628. (Jessica Sidman)
