ToDo ToDay: Metz! Baseball Musicals!

It’s easy to harp on the '90s as the golden age of indie rock, where screeching DIY bands championed the home-rooted growth of small label, like Seattle’s Sub Pop. Many years of lukewarm releases later, Sub Pop has gone back to its roots by signing schizophrenic rock bands whose main priority is a live set that isn’t just resonant—it annihilates the ear. One of those ear-annihilating groups is the Canadian trio Metz. Rejoice, for your punk rock prayers have been answered. Read more>>> Metz performs with Odonis Odonis at 8:30 p.m. at Rock & Roll Hotel, 1353 H St NW. $10. (202) 388-7625. (Paula Mejia)

Mandu owner Danny Lee invented National High Five Day with his friends when they were students at the University of Virginia in 2002. The idea: give random strangers, friends, and family high-fives all day and raise money for five cancer research centers nationwide. Now, he's bringing the made-up holiday to his K Street NW Korean restaurant with happy hour specials from 4 p.m. to close. Mandu will serve a special $5 menu with sojutinis, dumplings, chicken wings, seafood pancakes, and Korean tacos. Half of the sales will go to charity. There's also a "High Five" cocktail for $10—all of which will go to a good cause. Mandu, 453 K St. NW. (202) 289-6899. (Jessica Sidman)
