ToDo ToDay: Fawna Xiao and Tax Day Food Deals!

For most printmakers, each work they create is almost entirely executed before the ink hits the page. Fawna Xiao is not most printmakers. She approaches her prints like a painter approaches a painting: by adding one layer on top of another until she’s created her ideal effect. In her latest solo show, “Lost Land,” she takes inspiration from the natural world. What makes her work compelling is how she distills an entire mountain ranges into three shades of one color and yet still manages to capture the majesty of nature. Not so bad for an artist who created her first works in her parents’ basement. Read more >>> “Lost Land” is on view Mondays and Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m., and Tuesdays-Fridays, noon to 6 p.m., to April 27, at Hillyer Art Space, 9 Hillyer Court NW. Free.
