ToDo ToDay: Chelsea Light Moving (With Thurston Moore)! Sensual Dance Lessons!
After the October 2011 breakup of indie-rock super couple and Sonic Youth co-founders Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, listeners wondered if either performer would ever rock as hard again. These days, Sonic Youth remains on hiatus, but Moore continues to assail guitar lines with his revamped but no-less-searing band Chelsea Light Moving. The foursome describes itself in press materials as "not even music—it’s an amphetamine sonnet for the on-the-loose lovers of the world." They’ll maul your eardrums, emotions, and expectations. Read more >>> Chelsea Light Moving performs with Mario Fusinato at 8 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1811 14th St. NW. $15–$17. (202) 667-4490. blackcatdc.com. (Paula Mejia)
Try more than 20 types of sausages plus mussels, fries, and beer at Fat Shorty's opening today in Clarendon. The casual spot, which replaces Rabbit Grill, comes from restaurateur Aaron Gordon of Drafting Table and Zeke's DC Donutz and Rahman "Rock" Harper, the winner of the third season of Hell's Kitchen. Fat Shorty's offers a few crazy sausages like rattlesnake and alligator, but there are also flavors like chicken apple, hot Italian, chorizo, and traditional bratwurst. Chase it down with German and Belgian beers and Snicker's pie for dessert. Read more about the restaurant here. Fat Shorty's, 3505 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington; fatshortys.com. (Jessica Sidman)
