ToDo ToDay: Soccer Team and Frau Eva
Soccer Team plays on a World Cup schedule: Every four years or so, Ryan Nelson and Melissa Quinley get together and make gold. D.C. rockers who met while working at Dischord Records, the pair released their debut, the postpunk-y “Volunteered” Civility & Professionalism, in 2006, a folk diary that seems to conceal a barely contained angular undercurrent. In 2010, they reunited with Quinley to finish some long-abandoned recordings, releasing a 7-inch on Lovitt Records and promising more to fans. If history’s any indication, their next full-length should hit record stores right around 2014, but in the meantime, they have some live shows to catch up on. MORE >> (Kriston Capps)

Tonight, Ripple in Cleveland Park is celebrating the annual La Tomatina festival, in which people throw tomatoes in the streets of Valencia, Spain. Although there will be no food fight inside the restaurant, there will be a four-course, tomato-centric menu. The $65 dinner (with wine and beer pairings for an additional $25) will include house-made tomato-buttermilk burrata with dandelion puree, and green tomato mostarda as well as roasted sturgeon with vanilla-tomato confit, clams, bulgar, and vinaigrette of sheep's milk whey. There's also a $13 fat-washed tomato cocktail made with olive oil-infused vodka, basil jalapeno tomato water, thyme tincture, and house-made mozzarella. Reservations required.
