ToDo ToDay: Andrew Morgan

One of D.C.'s most specialized sonic detectives is Andrew Morgan, who’s made it his mission to rediscover ’80s electro-funk tracks and reissue them on his Peoples Potential Unlimited label or sell through his Earcave mailorder website. These post-disco, early hip-hop boogie beats are what Morgan will spin tonight at U Street Music Hall, and dancers used to four-on-the-floor drums will have to slow their rolls in order to sync with the genre’s midtempo slap bass and handclaps. The Protein Bar opens today in Penn Quarter. Check out the healthy foods cafe for high-protein smoothies, raw juices, quinoa bowls, salads, and the signature "bar-ritos." Everything on the menu is high in protein and fiber, using organic locally sourced ingredients. The Chicago-based chain was started by Matt Matros, who was inspired to open the eatery after losing 60 pounds on a high-protein diet. D.C. is awash with paper work. At least that's what "COLON:Y"—a collaboration by artists Wilmer Wilson and Chukwuma Agubokwusuggests in the sixth installation of Take It to the Bridge at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Their project, the Airborne Leaflet Campaign, will situate upward of half a dozen printers into the museum's bridge performance space, and choreograph leaflet drops throughout their installation, which runs today through Aug. 26.
