ToDo ToDay: Monty Python and Simpsons Trivia

Officially, local screenings of the remastered Monty Python and the Holy Grail do not involve an audience participation segment. But don’t be surprised if the whole theater recites most of the movie back to the screen. The film, first released in 1975, achieved cult-classic status not long afterward; now, it’s simply part of the fabric of popular culture. The new version has a sharper picture, better sound, and a new 12-minute short film, “Terry Gilliam’s Lost Animations.” All of the above are perfectly fine reasons to go see this limited run, but the main is pretty basic: It’s hilarious. The film shows through Thursday at E Street Cinema. See our showtimes for listings. (Mike Madden)

TRIVIA

In Mr. Burns, a post-electric play, the world is destroyed, leaving only a few survivors to grapple with the devastating aftermath—particularly the loss of TV, radio, and Internet. But one group begins to piece life back together through—what else?!— their memories of The Simpsons. Anne Washburn's play starts previews at Woolly Mammoth May 28, but the theater company, along with Trivia Kings, kicks off a week of Simpsons trivia competitions tonight. You have your pick of venues: This evening, stop by Union Jack's in Ballston at 8 p.m., Dupont restaurant and bar Mad Hatter at 7 p.m., Crystal City Sports Pub at 8 p.m., or H Street NE bar Star and Shamrock at 8 p.m. to answer questions like, "What is Principal Skinner's made-up name for Krusty burgers?" The trivia nights continue off and on at area venues through next Thursday. Check out the schedule.

MUSIC

Kid Millions, also known as the drummer for Oneida, touts his experimental drum project Man Forever at the Velvet Lounge tonight with locals Amanda Kleinman (The Apes, Heavy Breathing) and Alex Minoff (Weird War, Extra Golden). 9 p.m. at 815 U St. NW, $8-$10. And finally, the hella creative/often hilarious beatboxer/comic Reggie Watts returns to the area this evening. If you haven't seen "Fuck Shit Stack," you should consider doing that (yes, it's NSFW). 7 p.m. at 9:30 Club, 815 V St. NW, $25.
