ToDo ToDay: Heckle Kevin Costner!

If you hated Waterworld—or if you loved Dances With Wolves!—stop by Strathmore Music Hall tonight, where you'll get a chance to heckle Kevin Costner while he performs with his twangy ensemble Modern West. (Just kidding—don't heckle Kevin Costner. He probably takes that kind of thing very seriously.) 8 p.m. at 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. $35-$90.

Miss School of Seven Bells on Jimmy Fallon? See the real deal tonight. Bonus: Local synthpop star Allie Alvarado (Painted Face) will be on keys. Exitmusic opens. 8 p.m. at Black Cat, 1811 14th St. NW. $15.

Dana Tai Soon Burgess & Co. (shown) is 20 years old! Help the ethereal local dance company celebrate at George Washington University tonight, where the group will present various works from DTSB's repertoire. If you can't make it, go tomorrow night! 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow at the Dorothy Betts Marvin Center, 800 21st St. NW. $15-$25.

Over here at City Paper, we dig Lightfoot, the local band fronted by songwriter and guitarist Jessica Louise Dye. Listen to "As You Can," which we spotlighted in One Track Mind a couple months back. Then check out the band at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage tonight. (That means it's free!) 6 p.m. at 2700 F St. NW. $0.

The life of Nina Simone was marked by enormous highs and crushing lows. Nadine Cohodas' Princess Noire: The Tumultuous Reign of Nina Simone explores how the aspiring classical pianist, rejected from the Curtis Institute of Music at a young age, transitioned to an influential career in jazz (and beyond). Rare Simone footage will be shown. 7 p.m. at the Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital, 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE. Free. Reception begins at 6 p.m.

Achieving true peace in the Middle East may seem hard to imagine. For now, we can at least enjoy its culinary equivalent. I'm referring, of course, to the "Peace In The Middle East" sandwiches that Pound The Hill's Kahlil Ghannam will be in the kitchen making tonight on special at Fruit Bat.  Blending brisket and falafel with tater tots and American cheese, this tantalizing form of bready diplomacy will certainly not cure all the world's ills. But it may solve your late-night hunger. The featured sammy is available from 8 p.m. until midnight. Fruit Bat, 1236 H St NE. (202) 399-2323. (Chris Shott)
