DCCAH Announces Grantees for 2011

Last night the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities announced its 2011 grant recipients. It's a huge list–well over 100 individuals and organizations received grants across 16 different categories. The categories include:

There are lots of familiar names among the recipients, including Arena Stage, Gala Hispanic Theatre, Shakespeare Theater, and Capital Fringe among the theater organizations; Joy of Motion, CityDance, Dance Place, and the Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Company among the dance organizations; and International Arts and Artists, Hamiltonian Gallery, Transformer, and the Corcoran Gallery among the visual arts organizations.

Individual recipients include musician Maureen Andary of pop/folk duo The Sweater Set; artist Patrick McDonough, whose works include last fall's "reck room" installation at Flashpoint; photographer Adam Davies; and filmmaker Eleanor Walton, whose resume includes Chocolate City (above) and Igual Que Tú.
