The Public Good play Fort Reno tonight.

Welcome to Freestylin’ D.C! Every Monday and Thursday afternoon, I'll share some of the coolest and most interesting events from my site, Free in DC. Back in the day, before blogs were popular, Washington City Paper was my main guide for all things free. I’m excited to join Arts Desk now and to share my free and low-cost finds with you.

Monday
The Public Good, The Black Sparks, and Dot Dash play a free show at
Fort Reno, right near the Tenleytown Metro, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Feeling more like the blues? Head over to Blue Monday Blues at Westminster Church, near the Waterfront-SEU stop on the Green Line, for live music from 6 to 9:00 p.m. for just $5.

You can also head over to BloomBars in Columbia Heights for the weekly poetry open mic The Garden, from 8:30 to 11 p.m. It's an all-ages, donation-based event.

Get more of your poetry fix at Busboys and Poets’ free monthly event, Nine on the Ninth. It kicks off at 9 p.m. at the 14th and V location.

Tuesday
If you work near Metro Center or can find your way to 13th and G at noon, enjoy a free lunchtime concert during the Church of the Epiphany's Tuesday Concert Series. Faculty from the
Levine School of Music will perform this week, featuring soprano Jennifer Suess and pianist Carlos Rodriguez.

Hit up Bossa in Adams Morgan for the Guerrilla Poetry Insurgency's free monthly poetry open mic night from 7 to 9 p.m.

Enjoy cinema in the great outdoors at the U Street Movie Series. The Soloist screens for free at Harrison Field, on V between 13th and 14th, at 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday
If the weather’s nice, head over to 13th and Pennsylvania and check out the music at Live! on Woodrow Wilson Plaza, D.C.'s longest-running lunchtime music series.
The hour-and-a-half concerts start at noon every weekday, now to September 24.

Don’t forget to bring your mat when you head over to free Yoga in the Park at Dupont Circle, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Busboys & Poets has got more poetry—this time at their 5th and K location—as 2Deep the Poetess hosts the poetry open mic at 9 p.m. Cover is $3.

Over in the U Street Corridor, author Nikolas Kozloff will take part in a panel discussion about his book No Rain in the Amazon at Busboys' 14th & V location.

For a more light-hearted evening, those 21 and up can head over to Solly’s U Street Tavern for free Kostume Karaoke from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
