Arts Roundup: ‘Freedom’s Just Another Word For $125′ Edition
There’s no such thing as a Free fest. So learned a lot of people who suffered the opportunity cost of staking out TicketFly on Saturday morning in hope of securing tickets to see LCD Soundsystem, Joan Jett, et al. at the Virgin Mobile FreeFest at Merriweather Post Pavilion in September, only to have their best laid plans foiled by technical difficulties. Pavilion tickets are $125. Ouch.
Hot off shedding light on the hidden arm the federal government, WaPo features photographer David Deal’s attempts to reveal the “true infrastructure” of Washington. Some might say shooting the interiors of various buildings and utility plants around town isn’t revealing the city’s “true infrastructure” as much as its “infrastructure.” In any case, some nice lines here.
There’s more Inception criticism, quasi-criticism, and meta-criticism out there than you could ever dream of dreaming of dreaming of. But is it Oscar material? Never too early to speculate heedlessly.
