Meet the Real Housewives of Northern Virginia Washington D.C.

In front, from left, "Real Housewives of D.C." cast members Mary Schmidt Amons, Michaele Salahi, and Catherine Ommanney.

Bravo has announced the cast of "Real Housewives of Washington D.C." and there's a total of one District resident in the bunch. Of the five cast members, Stacie Scott Turner is the only one who actually lives in the show's title city. Michaele Salahi, Mary Schmidt Amons, and Lynda Erkiletian all live in Northern Virginia, and Catherine Ommanney lives in Maryland.

At first I felt indignant by D.C.'s lack of representation (a recurring problem, evidently), but then I reconsidered. The District should actually take it as a huge compliment that Bravo only deemed one D.C. resident vapid and fame whore-ish enough to be a Real Housewife.

Here's a look at the cast:

Stacie Scott Turner
Earned a Harvard MBA. Mother of two kids. Founder of the charity Extra-Ordinary Life, which provides support to teenage girls in foster care.

Michaele Salahi
Sometimes publicity stunts pay off: You'll remember Salahi as one of the White House gatecrashers, along with her husband Tareq. The couple also founded the dubious annual America's Polo Cup event, which took place last weekend. They reportedly owe $500,000 to vendors over the course of the event's four-year history.

Mary Schmidt Amons
Founder of two fashion-oriented charities, Labels for Love and the District Sample Sale event. Mother of five. And none of this does-she-or-doesn't-she stuff: She claims that Botox is now a medical necessity in addition to a beauty one after it cured her of migraines.

Lynda Erkiletian
Founder of T.H.E. Artist Agency, a Georgetown-based modeling agency (no word on what T.H.E. actually stands for). Divorced mother of four. From the looks of her Bravo photo, a Botox/plastic surgery devotee herself.

Catherine Ommanney
British expat and mother of two. Recently separated from her husband, following completion of Real Housewives filming. Reportedly shared a kiss with then 21-year-old Prince Harry back in London a few years ago and blabbed about it to tabloids. Classy.

"Real Housewives of D.C." debuts Thursday, August 5. But if you want to watch a D.C.-based Bravo show without feeling like you have to take a shower afterward, "Top Chef D.C." premieres tonight.

  • Erin Petty

J, Stacie Scott Turner is black. But you're right, one out of five women in a community with D.C.'s diversity is not sufficient representation.

Michaele Salahi?! D.C.? LOL Salahi lives in Front Royal Va.
Front Royal! for gods sake!!! A place that due to the W. R. Grace chemical waste smells like rotten eggs!! It is the armpit of the state, and smells like it too! Nobody that actually lives in "Northern Virginia" (and that does NOT include a chemical dump that is a good 70 miles and 1.5 hours away from D.C.) would even admit they know anyone from Front Royal! Polo country? Horse country? You have got to be kidding! The Salahis are considered at best a joke and mostly an embarrassment to anyone who even owns a horse in Virginia let alone the breeders and Polo society. Get real they are trash and Bravo! only has her on the show because she will get ratings. She and her husband need to crawl back under the rock they came from where they belong! Bravo! needs to find some "Real" ,yep that is the name of the show, housewives of D.C. and be done with it.
