Ash: That was a good read - thanks for posting. At the last 'Starting StandUp' comedy conference I held in DC back in 2011, we had attorneys explain pretty what you mentioned in your post.

The one thing they did mention is that the comedy community is one that self police itself. Once you're known as a joke thief and the word gets out....no one will want to work with you or book you for future gigs.
