John Stokes
John Stokes’ title—chief of staff for the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation —tells nothing about how many hats he wears. He somehow shows up to every groundbreaking ceremony for a dog park or football field and opening day for a public pool—and even manages to attend every kiddie triathlon run by his agency. What’s more, stories abound of Stokes slumming way beneath his pay grade to grant such constituent requests as finding a slot in overcrowded summer camps for an unplaced kid or getting a pool to stay open a little later than originally scheduled at the end of the season. He gets things done. And the guy is always dressed fresh and smiling. He’s so everywhere sometimes it seems like there’s more than one John Stokes. If only...
