Best Place To View Cherry Blossoms

Best: The Tidal Basin
2nd Best: Dumbarton Oaks
Pink blossoms against a bright blue sky. Tiny petals falling like snowflakes. Seven hundred tourists trying to get the exact same shot of cherry trees framing the Jefferson Memorial: It’s no secret that the Tidal Basin is the primo spot to view D.C.’s famous cherry blossoms. But if you have $8 to spare, dodge the crowds and visit the blooms at Dumbarton Oaks instead. The Georgetown estate’s 10-acre garden includes a hill of perfectly coiffed cherry trees, an ally of blooming plum trees, and a rose-bush labyrinth. Shoot one of the garden’s gorgeous wrought-iron gates next to the flowers and your Flickr contacts will be pink with envy.
