Sit-ups are boring. At Trapeze School New York, whose D.C. location is near the Navy Yard Metrorail station, you’ll work your core just by clinging for dear life to a swinging metal bar. As you come to terms with the fact you’re dangling 23 feet above ground, a staff member orders you to pump your legs and glide through the air. And then, you’ll be coached to let go—and to trust that the man dangling from the other swing will keep you from falling to your death. Sure, you’re wearing a harness and there’s a massive safety net below, but that doesn’t dull the adrenaline rush.
