1416 P Street NW; (202) 265-8900
For anybody on the east side of Logan Circle, a trip to the hardware store begins with the question: “Do I really need to go out to Home Depot?” The drive out Rhode Island Avenue NW is often unnecessary, because Logan Hardware usually has the goods, especially if the desired item can be carried away on foot. Faucet washers? Definitely Logan. Can of spray paint? Logan. Wire nuts? Logan. Padlock? Logan. Like its Ace-branded sister stores in Tenleytown, Glover Park, and the edge of Chinatown—and like the True Value to the west on 17th Street NW—Logan makes the most of its space and its knowledgeable staff. But it gets bonus points for being an un-fussy business on a P Street NW block known mostly for its hectic Whole Foods and growing string of yuppified stores. It feels eminently useful, even if it can’t stock the big stuff.
