Best: Sur La Table
2nd Best: Union Meat Company
Nothing will take the edge off of your dinner party game like a set of dull knives. Ragged makizushi or a tattered roast, no matter how delectable, won’t do much to impress your guests. The easiest thing is to tote your cutlery to Sur La Table, which has locations in D.C. and Arlington, where they can be sharpened to a beautiful edge for $1/inch. Second-best, if only because of the single location, is Union Meat Company in Eastern Market. Hey, they’re butchers, their knives have to be sharp, so it stands to reason that they can put a pretty good edge on your blades. The price, $3/knife or four for $10, isn’t too bad either.
