Best Craft Beer Bar
Greg Jasgur’s beer program at Pizzeria Paradiso stands out in an increasingly crowded field. Each of the restaurant’s three locations features about a dozen taps and 300 bottles. It’s not the largest selection in town, but the thoughtful balance deserves notice for offering simply the best local, domestic, and imported beer being made today. Some of them reflect Jasgur’s more esoteric sensibilities. Take Paradiso’s recent collaboration with 3 Stars, a series of nine beers based on the spheres of heaven in Dante’s Divine Comedy. Frequent exclusives, often poured at one of Jasgur’s creatively themed tap takeovers or pairing dinners, keep the uber-geeks salivating, as do house-cellared brews like a four-year-old keg of Bell’s Batch 9000 tapped at November’s Black Friday Imperial stout tasting. And those dreaming of a Cheers-style bar to belly up to are in luck. Paradiso’s knowledgeable staff, led by assistant bar manager Josh Fernands, make an effort to remember regulars’ favorites and recommend beers from their unending list of new offerings. Oh, and did I mention the weekly half-price happy hours? A paradise, indeed.
