Pozole at Taqueria Distrito Federal
There’s nothing fancy about TDF’s decor or service, which fall somewhere on the hole-in-the-wall spectrum. But there’s no better place to be on a chilly Saturday or Sunday morning. Weekends at TDF mean pozole, and pozole means tender chunks of pork, hominy, herbs, and lettuce in a light but rich broth with onions, cilantro, and lime to garnish. For $7.70, you get a huge portion of a dish that’s relatively simple but too time-consuming for most people to make at home. If there’s a more delicious way to fill your stomach and warm your soul for that price, I haven’t seen it.
