Before gourmet doughnut shacks pop up on every street corner, enjoy the classic treat at its most basic. Heller’s Bakery makes yeast doughnuts worth waking up early for. The jelly doughnut is supreme, with a raspberry filling that actually tastes like fruit and not a cough drop. A large glazed twist is big enough to bonk an enemy and sweet enough to woo a crush. The apple fritter is as large as a toddler’s skull, but much more appetizing. There’s nothing to improve.
