Someone alert the religious right: The holy trinity of milkshake flavors is under attack. Chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry are slowly ceding ground to a new set of flavors, thanks in part to Good Stuff Eatery’s creative handspun shakes. Spike Mendelsohn’s toasted marshmallow version, a clever riff on the plain old vanilla shake, set the tone when the burger joint opened in 2008. The creamy concoction mixes marshmallows and vanilla ice cream and adds a touch of sour cream, presumably to prevent a diabetic coma right on the spot. (Word of warning: Consuming the large toasted marshmallow on top might plunge you into a serious bout of self-loathing.) Additional creations like the Olympic-themed maple-syrup shake find their way onto the menu as the seasons and the chef’s whims dictate, which is not a bad thing.
