Some DINKs will never step foot in 2Amys for the same reason that the child-bearing clans flock here: At certain times, the rug-rats rule the joint. There’s a good reason for it, of course. Peter Pastan’s place offers something for everyone (well, everyone who doesn’t resent the very sight of kids). There are Crayons and high chairs for the wee ones; Neapolitan pies, dynamite small plates, and charcuterie for the adults (plus the city’s best small wine list to help take the edge off). It’s jam-packed and noisy at prime time, so either avoid the place then or try to schedule a reservation in the kid-free dining room upstairs. Or, if nothing else, try to come together symbolically, adult and child, over some of the best homemade ice cream that the District has to offer.
