Trillectro was born in 2012
, conceived as a happy union between hip-hop and EDM. The success of its first outing led to, in 2013
, bigger acts (Wale’s special appearance, A$AP Rocky storming the stage during A$AP Ferg’s set), bigger sponsors, and an influx of attendees ranging from local and national publications to thrill-seekers eager to see what the hype was about. Its sequel had some capacity issues, but that was a sign of success. Trillectro has gone from a niche event to a cultural magnet that draws the Hill intern and the bartender at your favorite dive bar, all there for the same purpose: fun. It’s the perfect realization of its organizers’ vision: the marriage of extremes. Of everything that makes Trillectro unique, that’s the true triumph. The biggest challenge going into the third installment is figuring out how to cope with its burgeoning success. Which is a good problem to have.
