D.C. loves Georgie James. Everyone here knows that. It’s rare to see the band’s name without “indie darling” following close behind. The duo of former Q and Not U drummer John Davis and singer-songwriter Laura Burhenn found a niche with their catchy ’60s- and ’70s-inspired pop-rock. They were signed to the recording industry’s own indie darling, Saddle Creek, which put out their debut album, Places. “Need Your Needs,” the album’s lead single, has been a hit with locals, if not the Billboard charts. But that may change: The band scored a national coup by performing it on Late Night With Conan O’Brien in February.
