Bras—so little fabric, yet so expensive. Finding the right one can be taxing. There are always an abundance of mom-bras with the extra thick straps, and sexy designs that offer no functional purpose as soon as you move. But attractive, versatile styles that fit perfectly? Now, that’s tough to track down—unless you go to Bloomingdale’s in Friendship Heights. This store has been open only since September. But whoever handles the buying and the hiring possesses excellent instinct. The staff is remarkably friendly and helpful, and the selection is diverse in terms of price, size, and brands, which include everything from the sensible chic of Calvin Klein to sexy lingerie from Vera Wang and Elle Macpherson Intimates. Best of all, you’ll find your size even if you’re not in the 34B to 36C range.

Aw, c'mon. This is the best you could do. Everybody in D.C. knows that the best place to get a bra is Dor Ne Corset Shop on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, especially for those of us that are waaaay outside the 34B to 36C range. (As their website, dornecorset.com says, their sizes range from 2A to 56FF, 50H, "DDD", "F", "FF", "G", "H" and 52I. In addition to having a wide selection and expert sizers, they can also do alterations for those who are in-between. Bloomie's? Yeah, if you want to pay an arm and a leg for a name. But if you're interested in getting a bra that really fits, go to Dorne.
