Summer Hummer: Ménage à Trois at Signature Theatre Monday, Aug. 18

The Fringe Festival has concluded, and the fall season has yet to begin at most area theaters. This leaves local performers with a few days to relax or vacation—but some of these movers and booty-shakers have a hard time staying still, so they’re using the downtime to mount a show in support of fellow actors in need. The annual cabaret and burlesque show “Summer Hummer: Ménage à Trois” allows the Helen Hayes Awards crowd to get a bit more raucous than usual (the opening number, for instance, is called “All Good Things Cum in Threes”), but the silliness and stripteases benefit a worthwhile cause: TheatreWashington’s “Taking Care of Our Own” campaign, which raises money for an emergency fund that helps local theater professionals when they need it. If you’re eager to see what actors from the Shakespeare Theatre Company look like under all their Elizabethan garb, here’s your chance. And don’t feel guilty about ogling the performers: It’s for charity, after all. The show takes place at 8 p.m. at Signature Theatre, 4200 Campbell Ave., Arlington. $35.
