Ira Glass at Lincoln Theatre Sunday, Oct. 13

This American Life isn’t the most obvious place for host Ira Glass to sharpen his comedy chops, credit-reel jabs at one-time boss Torey Malatia aside. But Glass may give it a shot anyway at Sunday’s Bentzen Ball closing ceremonies, the culmination of Brightest Young Things’ comedy festival co-organized by comic Tig Notaro. The nebulous “and friends” portion of the show puts Glass back where he’s most comfortable: curating. He’ll have a lot to pick from, since the rest of the festival covers every major genus of post-aughts comedian: people who sing silly songs (Garfunkel & Oates), cable refugees with podcasts (Doug Benson), and people who both appear on those podcasts and have their own shows (Nick Kroll). The show begins at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Theatre, 1215 U St. NW. $30. (202) 328-6000. brightestyoungthings.com.
