We Will Live Again Directed by Josh Koury and Myles Kane Shows as part of Shorts Program 2, “Life and Death,” June 20 at 5:30 p.m. at AFI Silver and June 23 at 3:45 p.m. at Goethe-Institut

A profile of the Cryonics Institute of Michigan, We Will Live Again casts a cool eye toward men and women who wish to escape death—people who, minutes after they die, are pumped with antifreeze and hoisted into tanks chilled with liquid nitrogen. “Heaven can wait,” they say. The unseen reality of their choice, however, appears similar to those sky burials halfway around the world in Vultures of Tibet. Frozen bodies—sorry, “cryopreserved” people—are treated like cargo, frozen lumps of flesh, blood, and bone. This is not embracing life. This is dodging death.
